Friends of MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders) Plymouth.
Ever wanted to be part of something that really makes a difference? Well, with Friends of MSF Plymouth; an exciting, new, innovative society that strives to raise awareness and funds for MSF, You Can! MSF, (Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders), is an international organisation which helps provide emergency humanitarian/medical expertise to all areas of the globe, including the most volatile, unpredictable and disease ridden countries. Without their help, there would be more catastrophic consequences for many of the world’s most vulnerable people. Throughout the year we will be fundraising through various socials and events along with hosting speakers concerning MSF and global health/affairs. So, Sign Up to become part of the ever-growing Friends of MSF Plymouth family and help take our society to the next level. We welcome everyone!
Our socials have included everything from graffiti bar crawls, showing MSF produced films with cakes and drinks and going for drinks after our language lessons. We intend to hold many socials, all with the aim of raising awareness and money for MSF and having a good time with like-minded people in the process! In the next year, we would like to host a networking event where like-minded individuals can get to speak to professionals of their area of interest all in an informal setting - drinks and food to be included!
It’s been a busy year for the Friends of MSF Plymouth society. With events ranging from a Half Marathon to French lessons, Lectures to Pole dancing, pub quizzes to bucket shaking, we have tried to put on something for everyone, while trying to raise as much as possible for MSF. We will be hosting guest speakers such as MSF nurses and doctors who are sure to provide fascinating and insightful stories of their work. We are also working very hard to introduce the Missing Maps project in Plymouth this year, which lets you get involved in mapping some of the most vulnerable areas in the world, allowing healthcare and access to these areas.
We are very excited about this year and hope you decide to join our society (for free!) and hopefully see you throughout the year at our many events! Make sure to find us at freshers fair and ask lots of questions!
