What is Student-Led Volunteering?

Student-Led Volunteering is exactly that - volunteering projects and events which are organised and led by students with your lifestyle in mind. They offer a diverse range of one-off volunteering opportunities open to all throughout the academic year which take place outside of core study hours on either Wednesday afternoons, weekday evenings or all day at the weekends.

Meet like-minded students who share your passion for helping others and making a difference in the local community. With no ongoing commitment, you can sign up and attend as many or as few sessions as you like, fitting them into your schedule when it suits you. Meeting on campus, all transport, costs and refreshments during the day/afternoon are provided by the Student-Led Volunteering Group.

The current projects are:

Green Team:

They aim to get you out of the city, enjoying, exploring, and caring for the diverse landscapes of Devon and Cornwall. The focus is on restoration, conservation, and management of culturally and environmentally important areas. Current partners include Moor Trees and Natural England

Animal conservation:

They aim to broaden the student experience of practical animal conservation whilst having fun and learning new skills. Current projects include Dartmoor Zoo and The Barn Owl Trust

Special Olympics:

Volunteering with Special Olympics Plymouth & District involves supporting adults with intellectual and physical disabilities to engage in sports and games. Running weekly on a Wednesday evening from 5:30pm - 8pm.

You’ll make a real positive difference to the project members and athletes by socialising and joining in with the games such as football and badminton – be a part of their favourite time of the week.
