On Wednesday 17th May VP Activities, Jess Vagg, along with UPSU Volunteer team hosted the Volunteer Awards 2017. The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of our numerous students involved in volunteering.

Relays@UPSU Awards

Relays@UPSU delivers outreach activities and events for school children. We are extremely honoured to work with such remarkable volunteers and want to thank each and every one of them for their efforts this year.

Individual of the Year

This is awarded to an individual who has shown outstanding dedication to the Relays@UPSU programme by demonstrating great enthusiasm, teamwork and ongoing commitment to the project this academic year.

  • Overall Winner – Adeola Olajide

Team of the Year

This award will go to a group who collectively have shown great enthusiasm, teamwork and ongoing commitment to the events and projects they have been involved with this academic year.

  • Overall Winner – University of Plymouth Netball Club

Urbanise Campus Events Volunteer of the Year

  • Overall Winner – Abby Williams 

Change 4 Life Volunteer of the Year

  • Overall Winner – Katherine Pierce

School Sports Events Volunteer of the Year

Student Led Volunteering Awards

UPSU Student Led Volunteering encompasses volunteering projects that are led and organised by our very own student volunteers and have altruistic goals to benefit both the local community and environmental causes.

Green Team Champion Volunteer of the Year

Animal Conservation Project Champion Volunteer of the Year

  • Overall Winner – Amy Fuller

Special Olympics Champion Volunteer of the Year

  • Overall Winner – Tom Davies

Unicycle Champion Volunteer of the Year

  • Overall Winner – Elen Roberts

SLV Volunteer of the Year

The UPSU Student Led Volunteering – Volunteer of the Year award will go to an individual who has shown true commitment and great enthusiasm for two or more Student Led Volunteering projects.

  • Overall Winner – Dean Pealing

SLV Project Leader of the Year

This award goes to a leader of a UPSU Student Led Volunteering Project who has fully championed their cause, shown great leadership and been a sound ambassador for student volunteering, both within internal and external communities.

Raise and Give Award Nominations

RAG (Raise and Give) is the student group dedicated to organising and running many exciting fundraising opportunities and charity adventure challenges at Plymouth University.

Community Volunteering Awards

Our students volunteer in a diverse range of roles in the local community. Alongside the inevitable fun and sense of satisfaction to be gained students acquire invaluable experience and employability skills.

This award goes to a student volunteer in the community who has demonstrated ongoing and regular commitment to their chosen organisation.

This award goes to a student volunteer in the community who has developed as in individual throughout their time volunteering.

Volunteer of the Year

This award goes to a student volunteer in the community who has made an outstanding contribution through their community volunteering by going over and above what’s expected of them.

This will be awarded to an organisation or person who has gone above and beyond in their support and engagement of student volunteers.
