Members of the University of Plymouth Badminton Club competed in the Women's BUCS Western Tier 2 2024/2025 Champions earlier this year. The team had a tight competitive season facing off against Bath in thier last match which would determine 1st/2ndplace...

After some tight games we came away with our incredible 8-0 win solidifying our title as winners of the division! 🏆

"I’m so proud of everything we achieved this year. We’ve been working towards establishing a women’s BUCS team for the last 2 years and this season we finally got the opportunity to compete.
To go undefeated in our debut season is a true testament to all the girls hard work, dedication and resilience. All the girls have put in so much time and commitment, and we have not just grown as individual athletes but as a team we have grown stronger and more united.
I’d like to thank Rob Freer, our volunteer coach, who has continuously supported our development and we hope we made him proud!
I wish the best to those staying on next year to keep up the hard work and retain our Div 1 position, and for any prospering players we would love to welcome you to the team!" - Emma Thornley (W BUCS Captain 24/25)

“The ladies badminton BUCS team marked their debut in the Western Tier 2 by winning all of their matches against opposition from Solent, Winchester, Bournemouth and Bath to get promotion to Division 1 at their first attempt. A truly fantastic achievement, particularly with the challenges that have arisen. The ladies have been a pleasure to coach, and I am very proud of them. They attend all training sessions and are keen to improve.
In addition to the BUCS success during the season, three ladies also represented Devon in the English National County Leagues and have been successful in national tournaments.
Hopefully next season the ladies can build upon their league success by entering the BUCS national cup competition which will allow them to play against top University opposition.” - Rob Freer (BUCS Coach)
