Students come together to improve employability with UPSU Training

“I have the best skills for the future. Definitely recommend!”

UPSU’s Peer-to-Peer Trainers are students from a range of year groups, disciplines and backgrounds, who bring their own experiences to provide skills based training sessions, as part of UPSU’s programme of training events for students.

Peer-to-Peer trainers have had an amazing first semester contributing seven sessions towards UPSU’s twenty core employability skills sessions. These sessions ranged from leadership to budgeting.

The students have a real impact through their sessions with one student when giving feedback about a Peer-to-Peer workshop stating, “I want to make sure I am doing the best I can for the people I represent & have the best skills for the future. Definitely recommend!”

Becoming a peer-to-peer trainer will give you the ability to develop your potential whilst developing the potential of other students. No experience of having provided training is necessary! Peer-to-peer trainers will gain training experience and deliver workshops on a range of topics from presentation skills to staying safe online.

Students become trainers for a variety of reasons, such as to improve their leadership skills or build confidence. For others it has affirmed there chosen career path, with one student stating, “Ultimately, this year (as a Peer 2 Peer Trainer) has confirmed that I do want to teach and the reason I believe teaching is imperative…”
