Pride Month 2025

Be bold, be brave, be proud. Pride is for everyone! 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

Pride Month is a month-long observance in June dedicated to the celebration of LGBTQ+ pride, commemorating the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Month also serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and resilience within the LGBTQ+ community, and its allies, and continuing the fight for recognition and equal rights on a global scale.

Pride with your SU

Plymouth is a city proud to be rich in diversity and as your Students’ Union, we are committed to representing and appreciating our student community.

We use our platform to raise awareness and celebrate diversity and inclusion, as well as working with individual students to provide them with a safe place to share their stories and bring attention to inequalities and disparities they may face.

Our student groups and networks

As one of UPSU’s liberation networks, the LGBT+ network aims to create a welcoming, inclusive and informed environment.

The LGBT+ Network is a space where all self-defining LGBT+ students and allies can come together as a community, keep up to date regarding issues which impact them and campaign on issues impacting your time at Plymouth.

Find out more about the LGBT+ Network here.

Our LGBT+ Society is a student-led group dedicated to supporting, representing and empowering LGBT+ students.

We are a friendly bunch who take pride in creating a strong queer community for all to join. We charge no membership fee to be as inclusive as possible and host many socials including drinking socials out on the town and sober socials on the university campus itself. – LGBT+ Society

Pride with your University

Check out the LGBT+ inclusion: information about LGBT inclusion work at the University of Plymouth, plus the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (IDI) Toolkits which provide a range of resources selected by staff and students to support anyone in our student community wanting to know more about a range of equality, diversity and inclusion topics. Resources include podcasts, films, reading lists and online seminars and the toolkits are continually updated with new suggestions from staff and students.

Plymouth Pride – July 12th

After recent news that Plymouth Pride was cancelled due to lack of funding, there is exciting news that Plymouth Pride is back on with a community-led Pride event set to take place on July 12th on the Barbican.

It is set to be a smaller scale event in comparison to previous years, however, will still honour Pride Month with activities, speakers, and by bringing the LGBT+ community and allies together. It will be led by organisations including Queer Out Loud, the Barbican Theatre and Deart Promotions as well as volunteers and supporters.

Follow Plymouth Pride on Instagram for updates.

Pride in Plymouth Community Trust

Founded in 2010, Pride in Plymouth Community Trust brings people together to celebrate and promote the diversity that exists in Plymouth, to share information about equality legislations, promoting national support groups, and raising awareness of campaigns and projects that benefit the LGBT+ community.
