Course Rep of the Year Award

sstar20

Course Reps are elected to represent the views of students on their Programme. The Course Rep of the Year Award is awarded to a Course Rep who has gone above and beyond to ensure that the student voice is truly heard and acted upon.

They may have proactively engaged with students and been the clear link between the student body, Students’ Union and the University at a Programme level and/or used appropriate and tailored methods to collect student feedback and disseminate any key information and outcomes to their Programme.

And the winner is...

Benjamin Harding (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business)

“His charismatic demeanor encourages persons to defer to him when issues arise which he promptly and eloquently progresses with academic staff to ensure that the best university experience is appreciated by all.  Ben’s attitude to providing assistance and giving clarity to his peers whilst giving proportionate feedback to staff has resulted in improvements to current modules and those to follow... As well as undertaking the usual lecture shout-outs and making himself easily available to all in providing assistance to those in need Ben undertook his role with professionalism, diligence, sensitivity and most important of all in confidence.”

Due to the quality of the nominations we have also awarded a Highly Commended in this category.

Highly Commended: Daniel Taylor (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business)

“Dan is an incredible person. Despite a very busy 3rd year, he will consistently take forward student issues to members of staff, day or night. Frequently meeting with course staff in either pre-planned SSL meetings, or organising his own meeting, he takes care of all issues across all three year groups... He is often in the 3D Design studio until at least 9pm on most days completing his work after a lot of his day has been spent standing up for other students.”
