Yesterday afternoon an email (‘Your questions answered’) was sent to all students with Student FAQS on University savings from the University of Plymouth. If you haven’t yet seen these, please make sure that you check your student email address.

The FAQs are also available on the Student Portal here; Student FAQs on University savings

We want to start by thanking the students who’ve taken the time to contact us over the past few weeks. Your concerns have been heard and raised directly with relevant members of senior University of Plymouth staff members by your Sabbatical Officer team. These spaces include (but are not limited to):

  • University Teaching and Learning Quality Committee (UTLQC)
  • Meeting with the Gavin Douglas, University Registrar and Secretary, and representatives from the University of Plymouth Human Resources team
  • The need for transparent communication with the student body was raised in the Sabbatical Officer team’s monthly meeting with Professor Richard Davies, University of Plymouth Vice-Chancellor. From this meeting, the team worked closely with the University’s Communications team to collate the FAQs you received via email yesterday.

We know that many of you will be feeling nervous or apprehensive about the upcoming academic year and the changes ahead. Change and uncertainty can be unsettling, and it’s perfectly valid to feel that way. We want to reassure you that you are not alone.

If things are feeling overwhelming, support is available and it’s always OK to reach out.

Our role as your elected representatives within the Students’ Union is to speak up for you in the spaces we’re invited to – to make sure that your views are represented and that your concerns are heard and taken seriously. While the broader challenges facing the UK’s higher Education sector may be beyond our immediate control and we may not be able to change some of the outcomes, we’re doing everything we can to keep you, the students, in the loop.

If you have any concerns or feedback that you would like to share, please reach out. Email us on studentvoice@su.plymouth.ac.uk.
