On the 27th September, Plymouth Raise and Give hosted their first event of the year, their Freshers Craft Sale. The event was a great success, with over 100 people throughout the day, and making a total of £475.60 for their three charities, Young Lives vs Cancer, Hope for Children and First Light.
Due to the success of the event, which saw 20 of Plymouth’s best craft traders selling to Plymouth students, Plymouth Raise and Give are hosting a Christmas Craft Sale on the 1st December, with more information to come!
“The craft sale was a great success, and it was great to see independent crafters come together at our University to showcase their goods. Students loved the unique, handmade products which included folk art, cushions, jewellery, and sustainable, everyday items.” - Plymouth Raise and Give President, Ian Gordon
“The event was such a success, we’ve been asked to do it again!! The traders were fantastic, and provided a wide range of products which students were really interested in. The individuality and variety of people and products helped make the event, and our raffle (including our star prize of a £50 H&M voucher), helped us raise even more than we could have expected!” - Plymouth Raise and Give Vice President & Events Coordinator, Sam Ashton
Plymouth Raise and Give, a student-led fundraising group on campus, aims each year to raise lots of money for charities through loads of exciting ways, and strives to have a good time while doing it! Some future events include the Christmas Craft Sale, Winter Ball, the annual Take Me Out, and one of student’s favourite events, Jailbreak, which is returning, after 6 years, in 2023!
