Unfortunately this academic year has come to a close and I am happy to report on a few topics that have been spoken about since January, along with updates for the 2025/26 academic year. A lot of topics have been discussed such as due back dates not being followed, communication methods between students and course reps, issues with software use and the uncertainty from a lack of guidance, and graduation. With a few of these topics I must say that they are being discussed by staff and feedback is being gathered from the School Representatives to see if certain aspects of University feedback dates/ student voice can be improved. With other areas more relative to individual stages/ courses within our school I am proud to report feedback has been reported to the relevant meetings/ staff so each year can lead to more improvements!!
One main topic between me and some MSc course reps was discussing the masters courses offered by the University and their adaptability to those who have never done Psychology before, possibly introducing supporting optional workshops for those students who are particularly struggling with skills like data coding or ethics writing. Along with that the format of the MSc course was also discussed and changes were suggested at the Post graduate committee meeting. With that in mind I would like to add that if you are a Masters or Post Graduate student please do speak up about opinions of the course, your course matters and your voice matters, anything that you think would have been beneficial to you could be beneficial for future students too.

One item raised at the Faculty Teaching Learning Quality Committee and Staff Teaching Learning Quality Committee was issues with some invigilators during the January exams for our School. It was stated much distraction occurred and students wanted guidance on what they can do about the situation and if any other schools had experienced the same situation. Advice was sent to students and actions were taken to prevent this from happening in the future.
Looking to the 2025/26 academic year, I will no longer be the School Representative for the School of Psychology, instead a new School Representative has been appointed and they will be taking over from September this year. Please also keep your opinions of this year's Universities Discovery Weeks in mind as they are constantly changing and will be a hot topic with faculty in September!!

Best of luck to everyone, whether you are enjoying your summer before the new term, or graduating and looking to new horizons!
