The Shipping Society recently organised a charity bake sale to support the British Red Cross Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal. The event was a great success, with Turkish students baking traditional Turkish food and pastries to raise funds for a worthy cause. The bake sale was held on the University of Plymouth campus and attracted a large number of students and staff members, and inspired conversations about culture, traditions, and the importance of contributing where we can. The Turkish students involved in the event showcased their culinary skills by preparing a variety of traditional Turkish dishes, including baklava and Turkish delight. These delicacies were a big hit among the visitors and helped to raise significant funds for the charity appeal.

Overall, the bake sale managed to raise £550 pounds, which will go towards helping those affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria. The Shipping Society's initiative has been praised by the student community, with many appreciating the efforts made by the society to support a worthy cause. The success of this event has highlighted the role that student societies can play in creating a positive impact on society. It showcases the power of collective action and demonstrates how small initiatives can make a big difference in people's lives. The Shipping Society's charity bake sale is a testament to the spirit of generosity and empathy that exists within the University of Plymouth's student community.
