At the University of Plymouth Students’ Union (UPSU), we believe in being social, inclusive, and student-focused, and we work hard to create incredible opportunities and experiences for our members. We are looking for a proactive Student Communities Coordinator to join our team and help us deliver on this mission.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play a key part in supporting our student groups and communities, from societies and clubs to volunteering projects. You will help students bring their ideas to life, support them with training and guidance, and ensure everything runs smoothly, safely, and inclusively.
In this role, you will:
-
Support students to set up and run societies, clubs, and volunteering projects.
-
Provide advice, guidance, and training for student group committees.
-
Help ensure risk assessments, trips, and activities are safe and well organised.
-
Assist with booking facilities and processing transport requests.
-
Be a key point of contact for students, offering information and support.
-
Contribute to UPSU events such as Welcome, Fairs, Elections, and Awards.
-
Work closely with student officers, staff, and partners to deliver great experiences.
We are looking for someone who is:
-
Organised, approachable, and enthusiastic about student engagement.
-
A great communicator with strong teamwork and people skills.
-
Able to manage a busy workload and use their initiative.
-
Interested in supporting a diverse range of student-led activities.
-
Excited about creating opportunities for students to connect and thrive.
Requirements:
-
Minimum GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths (or equivalent).
-
Experience in customer service or busy environments.
-
Experience in engaging people, ideally within education, youth, or community settings.
-
A positive, adaptable approach, with a commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities.
Why join UPSU?
-
A supportive, friendly workplace where you’ll make a real difference to students.
-
Opportunities for training and personal development.
-
UPSU closes over Christmas, giving you valuable extra time off to recharge.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
