Join us on Mount Batten beach at 10am for a joint beach clean with the Kayaking and Ocean Science societies. We will split into groups and do our best to clean up the area between us and then go swimming afterwards.
To get to Mount Batten you can take the ferry from the Barbican that depart every 30 minutes or you can drive which will take about 25-30 mins.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the members groupchat.
From February wetsuits are MANDATORY for all sea swims as the sea temperature has been about 9 degrees recently.
Every attendee must have completed the pool section of their swim competency check and they will be required to complete the sea competency check if they haven't done so already.
Session Lead / Paddleboard Lifeguard - Jazz Allen
Land Officer - Matt Hansen
Swim lead - TBD
All leaders and lifeguards are appropriately qualified and we have the correct kit to conduct a session safely and properly.
Judging by the current forecast, a 15 minute time limit will be imposed to ensure maximum safety, but this will be reviewed closer to the time. 20 attendees maximum as there is only one lifeguard present.
Wind is moderate. Chance of rain is low. Air temp is forecast to be around 13 degrees. Water temp is TBC estimated at 10-11 degrees.
