It's competition time!
Auditions for SWPV will take place on the 22nd of October, in Davy main hall, 5pm to 8pm.
South West Pole Varsity (SWPV) is an annual pole competition where Universities compete across the Southwest in four categories, Amateur to Advanced soloist and Group. The UPPDC has had an amazing past few years competing in SWPV, including group coming 1st place in 2023 and 2024. We placed 3rd overall in 2024, and last year our intermediate soloist placed third! This year is even more exciting as we are hosting it in Plymouth!
To audition please complete the sign up form before the 22nd of October. If you can't make this date or have any questions about competition, please message our Competition Team Captain, Lucy.
The categories to audition for are:
Amateur – New to pole? This the category for you – basic spins, one climb, holds and stunning floorwork including pole handstands – come create a routine and enter your first competition!
Aspiring - Higher beginner/lower intermediate polers welcome! Drop downs into basic inverted moves allowed (no actual inverts), sits, cross knee laybacks, impress with elegant spins and floorwork.
Intermediate - Love an invert? This category is for you! Ground inverts, leg hangs and variations, genie and variations, laybacks and spins allowed, stunning floorwork encouraged!
Advanced - Anything goes! Show off your stunning moves and impress the crowds. Encouraged for students attending advanced classes. Excludes previous advanced competition winners and instructors.
Group - Want to compete with your new besties? Group includes 3-5 competitors of all levels, with any move goes. We would love to represent a range of students in varying stages of their pole journey.
