What are team trials?

Our team trials are your opportunity to try out for one of our clubs teams, this year we are looking to have two BUCS teams and at least one Friendly team. Teams are a great opportunity to compete and represent the university against other universities as well as train and meet new friends!

On trials day our captain and vice captain will watch everyone jump a small course and show some schooling movements. You will have the chance to ride some of the diffrent horses that are at Newton Ferrers on the day as we are looking to see how you ride on strange horses. 

Team descisons will be made based on how you ride at trials and the information you provide on the form you will have filled out before you arrive.

What to bring:

• Riding hat (these are available to borrow) *
• Riding boots (short with chaps or long)
• Riding clothes e.g. breeches and a long sleeved shirt
• Gloves
• Body protector (not required)
• Water Bottle
• Waterproof coat
• Snacks (lunch will be provided) 

* If you are bringing your own hat please check the trials post on our instagram to check it meets the safety requirments

What do the teams do?

All our teams follow the BUCS format of competion where you will ride a dressage test and then jump a course of showjumps whih is judge on style. There are four riders on each team and each rider will get random horse for dressage and another for jumping. 

The teams compete at our home yard and also at other clubs yards. Usually, there will be three teams at each competion, the host and two visiting teams so it is great fun to get to meet with people from other universities!
