British Canoeing Paddle Safer Award
This course will teach you all about the basics of safety in paddling, open to all abilities and run by a qualified instructor!
After completing this course you will gain a qualifcation and certificate from British Canoeing.
The cost of the course is just £7.50!
This will take place at Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre.

How to get there?
There are 3 main options to get to the centre:
- Walk down to the barbican and get the Mount Batten - Barbican ferry (£3 single or cheaper with concession)
- Take a number 2 bus to Mount Batten pier
- Drive / car share with another member
What to bring?
- Towel
- Swimwear (including a rash vest if you have one)
- Plastic bag for wet swimwear
- Dry clothes for afterwards
- Drink of water
- Shoes you don't mind getting wet
- Sun cream / hat / sunglasses / gloves where appropriate
Optional (if you have your own):
- Wetsuit
- Paddle
- Buoyancy aid (it will need to be checked)
Please meet just outside the centres reception. If you require any assistance to get to and from Mount Batten sessions e.g. a lift or someone to walk with, please do not hesitate to contact with one of our committee members or email us at (plymcanoeandkayak@gmail.com) and we will try our best to arrange something.

Please be aware that some of the University of Plymouth Students’ Union events may be attended by UPSU approved photographers and videographers, for capturing content to be used in UPSU and University online and offline marketing and promotional materials,
for example webpages, social media or flyers. If for whatever reason, you or a member of your group, do not wish to be photographed, please make yourself known to staff working at the event on arrival or to the photographer.
