We'll celebrate Dia de los Muertos by making an altar in the SU Lounge, this is a Mexican tradition to remember those who have passed but remain with us in a different way. We'll then play some music and share food.
Mexican day of the dead is the result of 2 traditions, the Ancient Nations in America and the Catholicism brought from the Spanish 500 years ago. Day of the dead is a time of the year to remember the ones who are no longer with us, but still remain in a different way. We prepare the altar with colourful ornaments, our loved ones' favourite things and food. We dedicate the altar to their memory and the important moments we spent together.
This is a colourful and bittersweet way of keeping them alive in our memory and our hearts.
This will happen in the SU Lounge, and the Altar will stay on display for a few days; following the setting up of the altar, participants will play acoustic music and share food together.
