I promise to represent all students to the best of my ability. I care passionately about the safety and well-being of all students, and good communication between UPSU and the uni.

Accessibility

I will ensure policy is created so lecture recordings are always available when needed. Students with ADHD and anxiety (amongst others) deserve to be able to process the information in their own time and space.

Diversity and Inclusivity

In a recent Diversity Forum great ideas were discussed, including Diversity Training and safe spaces. I will collaborate with all elected representatives to ensure these become a reality. The training would inform students and staff, particularly those in leadership, about issues of diversity and inclusivity. Racism, dead-naming and cultural appropriation are prevalent issues in today’s society; even on campus. I will work with the uni to create safe spaces; available for those experiencing panic attacks or sensory overloads (for example). Uni shouldn’t be scary, and I believe these spaces will create a more welcoming environment.

The Future

There are so many issues needing our attention, particularly stigma around male mental health and the rise in STIs. I will improve student engagement with the big issues by working together to create campaigns on social media and in reality, showing students can have a huge impact.
