Ben Parkes

Let me be your Academic voice.

As your current Part-time Academic Officer I have a pre-existing understanding of the academic representation system with a full view of its merits and flaws.
With this knowledge I will hit the ground running in the role of VP Education.

My priorities lie in providing a more effective academic support system by working with the university to identify and fix weak areas.

To provide better Digital platforms for Student academic representation including a “Representation” DLE page; where course and general issues can be reported.
o To improve the communication between students, course reps and school reps and allow visibility of how issues are being dealt with

With faculty and school mergers looming, I will work closely with the university to ensure students are given opportunities for beneficial cross disciplinary working.
o Students to be partners in merger discussions

Daytime non-drinking events to give commuter students a more inclusive overall academic experience.
o Fortnightly to monthly varying events to including activities such as: book-swap, non-drink related food deals (e.g. Pasta day), and mindfulness and exercise sessions

Transparent spending: I will Lobby the university to publish a report yearly on how your University fees are being spent with clearer data.

If these issues are important to you then vote Ben Parkes for your VP Education.
