As School Rep for the past two years, I now feel I have a good grasp of the procedures and policies that affect us as students here at the University. As student nurses we have a great number of challenges; academic work, financial pressures, placement commitments, personal lives to name a few. I feel that I am in a good position to be able to voice the experience of the student nurse to anyone. I am not afraid to speak my mind and will stand up for what we believe in as a student body. I have, and will, raise difficult subjects and seek a suitable outcome. Collectively, we are a large body of students and we should be listened to. With the changes in nursing education framework this is an important time to ensure that this transition is smooth for the sake of our future profession. With the school stretching from Truro to Exeter, it is essential that these cohorts are included and consulted. I have been working with student reps from Exeter last year to ensure the new school is welcomed and feels supported into the wider University body. As I am in my third year I am able to reflect back on each stage of my student journey, and with this in mind, feel that I am a strong candidate for the position of School Rep.
