Hello,
My name is Luke and I am a second-year student studying Geography.
For the last 6 years, I have fundraised for an international youth group, assisting and helping young people achieve more than academic success, but build life skills by providing support for their development. I have been an adult volunteer for 2 years and have been appointed Jack Petchey Co-ordinator for my area, ensuring that those aged between 11-25 are awarded for their exceptional actions and volunteering within the organisation. Through these roles, I have organised many local scale events including meals and activity days. Throughout the last two years I have also been responsible for helping to organise events on a large regional scale, for up to 1500 young people.
As well as this, I have pushed myself to achieve more and raise as much money as I can for a variety of good causes. I have completed running events in aid of Alzheimer’s society, with my most recent being the London Landmarks Half Marathon; and participated in fundraising for other local and national charities at varying levels throughout the last 5 years. I have also worked for a charity which specialises in offering young people with mental and/or physical disabilities opportunities to experiences that would not be possible without the financial and emotional support provided. The time and dedication of volunteers and fundraisers is so key to ensuring that support for those who are sometimes the most vulnerable in our society are supported when needed.
I am passionate about raising money for charity and volunteering. I have organised many fundraising events and hope to help run more large events with RAG this coming academic year. I am excited to encourage others to join and hope you will give me the opportunity to put all that I can into helping RAG as part of their Large Events team.
