LAWRENCE FEBVRE

As VP-Sport I will be:

Funding:

Increased University Funding: Continuing with the developments made by VP-Sport last year on lobbying the University to allocate a funding pot, due to a small budget that’s spread thin.

Locally provided Facilities: Helping clubs to find contacts with local businesses and charities to provide venues and equipment necessary to run clubs. This will lead to growing the sports themselves with more publicity, therefore improving the community’s relationship with the university.

Community and Student Development:

Community development: Supporting head of sport in forging new connections within the local community, by giving club members the option to get qualifications, funding or experience through outreach to organisations. This will be achieved through encouraging systems for subsidised coaching hours with the local sports clubs.

OTC and URNU: Aiming to improve the situation for University Military organisations such as OTC’s and URNU’s, by hosting inter-organisations sport events, such as OTC Rugby vs Plymouth University Rugby.

New Clubs:

Casual Sports: Shifting the prioritisation of club publicity away from BUCS into all competitions, and make more of an emphasis on the casual side of sports that encourages participation.

New Clubs: Making it easier for new sports clubs to start up, and giving them more incentive by increasing trust, communication and prioritising funding for them in the following years.

Communication: Introducing bi-monthly meetings with club presidents to discuss issues raised, since sports forums aren’t frequent enough to sort problems, and an open-door policy with student committees.
