Give it a Go (GIAG) Volunteer

'Volunteering with GIAG has completed changed my University experience. The students community is fantastically diverse and being able to give back to my community is very much a gift.'

Where I Started
I wanted to get more involved in extra curricular activities to assist with getting a student work - life balance and saw the opportunity to become an Register Activator so started taking the register for two sessions.

What I Did
Encouraged students to attend, promoted the GIAG timetable across my societies and faculty and kept records for diverse Dance and Zumba sessions. Through my enjoyment of this I then applied to be a Buddy for the Be Active, Reduce Stress (BARS) programme and I am currently having an  incredible time meeting more people and going to group activities.

The Future
I intend to stay as involved in GIAG related projects for as long as I can. They helped me to integrate and settle in which is an essential part of University life that can be over-shadowed by academic and social pressures.
