A huge thank you to the 239 of you who took the time to complete our Volunteer Survey this year.

It was amazing to hear about your volunteering experiences and your responses will help us to develop what we are able to offer you as students and to understand how volunteering impacts on the student experience.

We really wanted to share with you a few results from the survey and some incredible quotes that have really made us smile in the Volunteer Department.

  • 73% said it had benefited their academic studies.

“I've always loved volunteering for a good cause. Not only does it help people out, which is a great thing in itself, the atmosphere it creates is amazing and the relationships you make are strong.”

“It has made me a more confident person by pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Has given me a better knowledge on life outside of university and is preparing me for after university and getting a job.”

“Being involved in making a say for a particular cause is always amazing. I work voluntarily with children and I love it. Making someone else smile even when your sad is the most amazing feeling in the world. Making someone else happy makes me happy. Truly and genuinely.”

“It has helped me with my leadership skills and confidence, which has led to improvements in my ability to manage people and work with others in complex tasks. Volunteering has become a staple part of my life, giving back and helping others has helped me grow a lot as a person.”

“The community volunteering has helped me to see I can do much more than I think I can. It has also made me more confident to try new things, and shown me it's ok to ask for help.”
