Register here for the next OurTable event

Food nourishes the soul as well as the body and connects us better than anything else can, OurTable is a community dinner project hosted by the University of Plymouth and UPSU with an aim to bring our diverse staff and student communities together over a shared meal.

Throughout the year, all staff and students from across the University will be invited to bring a dish for sharing which best represents them or their community. We will sit down together around one table and share our food and our stories. OurTable is an opportunity to taste different cultures and connect with each other; make new friends, discover new tastes and build a welcoming atmosphere for all.

How does it work?

  • Dates for OurTable dinners are planned throughout the year and are advertised here, on the OurTable webpage.
  • Simply select the event you wish to attend and book; you will need to let us know what dish you are bringing.
  • Prepare your dish at home, pack it carefully and arrive at your meal with an appetite and an open mind.

There is no cost to take part in a meal; all you have to do is bring a dish. We welcome staff and students to OurTable events; everybody is welcome to come join us and celebrate our unique cultures together.

What about allergies?

Everyone joining us for a meal will need to declare if they have any allergies and all dishes must be supplied with a full ingredients list. As the food is cooked in home kitchens we cannot guarantee that there will not be any allergens present.

What should I bring?

Bring any dish that you feel represents you and/or your culture. Make sure you provide a full ingredient list and that the dish is pre-cooked as you will not be able to cook it at the event. We will provide you with water and soft drinks; no alcohol is served at OurTable events unless for religious purposes (Kiddush wine for the Jewish Sabbath for example). When you book onto the event you will be asked for details about your dish so we can create a menu for the event and ensure that there is a wide range of sweet and savoury dishes.

Who can I contact about OurTable?
