Hi, I’m Owain, a 2nd Year History student, who is relatively new to RAG. After shadowing Emi for (Emi: “too long”) a couple of weeks, the experience I have gained, and the knowledge about all areas of RAG I have picked up, will contribute to my pre-existing knowledge of how committees should work, through my running of the History Society, founding of the Welsh Society and Model UN Society.
I know what Sports Clubs and Societies want, with this knowledge and my contacts with sponsors around the city, I can help to develop RAG and ensure that we have a big outreach ensuring the best possible recruitment.
Being new to RAG I can bring new ideas to the table, I can think outside the RAG box, whilst managing to remain impartial to what goes on inside of RAG through my experience chairing other events in societies in Plymouth and being involved in meetings with other universities through a variety of events.
In the role of Chairperson, I aim to:

Bring societies and sports clubs to the table, ensuring they know we can support them and they can support us.

Partner with UPSU’s associated institutions for a larger target audience.

Make Plymouth students more aware of RAG, through pop-up stalls and lobbying for improvements on our upsu.com presence.

Have socials at least twice a month, with one being sober to increase cohesion and communication between our departments.

Expand the events team beyond the coordinators, recruiting members making them aware they can help.

Ensure adventure leaders know that the core committee and UPSU are there to help them in every way.

Host events for awareness, and “stuff” not just money. i.e. Food for Entry Club Night.
