Promoting Activities and Events
Activities and events are vital so students can engage and enjoy their time whilst at university. I will make it easier for students to promote activities and events that they are hosting on campus, I will give them the opportunity to talk with university staff at regular forums, provide easier and more accessible space for students to hold activities and events, and create a larger social media platform for students to share ideas and increase student engagement.
Inclusivity
There are many barriers of engagement that have been addressed by students. These barriers include; timing of events not being appropriate, costs of societies being too high, and societies struggling to reach out to students who don’t engage with activities. I will provide societies with training so that they know how to manage finances appropriately, provide training so that they can reach out to students who feel that they cannot engage with societies, and provide students with more information of when events will be hosted.
Funding
Funding towards societies is limited and there are a number of hidden costs that students have to pay after joining. I will ensure that societies receive substantial training enabling them to manage and understand their finances, develop fundraising ideas and have the opportunity to get sponsorship deals which will help avoid any hidden costs for students.
