Hello, I am Abby Williams. I’m in my final year of BEd Primary Education (SEN). I'm running for the position of VP Activities and Development.
I’ve been at university for 5 years. I know first hand the importance of engaging with volunteering, societies and the Student Union. This has allowed me to enhance my time at university and allow me to gain skills that my degree alone could not provide. Therefore, I would like to be your VP Activities and Development.
Below are my key manifesto points, that I believe will make a difference.
Communication
I will work to improve SU - university communication, especially with faculties and the estates department. I will lobby to secure easy access to university rooms and spaces for societies and clubs in the future.
Volunteering
Volunteering is often overlooked, however the benefits are phenomenal. I will work to increase the profile of volunteering and the range of opportunities that are available. I’d work with faculties to promote the enhancement of degrees through the use of volunteering.
Small Societies
Many societies are small and lack the exposure to do them justice. I will work to support these societies’ efforts to further grow by holding regular drop in sessions to work on specific ideas by these committees, and provide interdepartmental networking opportunities.
