Self Care Week is an annual national awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self care across communities, families and generations. This year the theme is “Mind & Body”.

When thinking about self-care it is important to remember to look after both your mental and physical health. So what does Self Care look like?

  • good nutrition and regular exercise to support general wellbeing
  • supporting mental wellness by keeping connected and taking rest
  • adopting positive lifestyle choices

Self care can vary from person to person based on your beliefs, your likes and dislikes, and your health. It may involve exercise, prayer, or engaging in your favourite hobby!

A few of my favourite steps to self care:

  • Going for a walk
  • Meditation
  • Reading a book
  • Making time for friends
  • Yoga
  • Listening to music
  • Journalling
  • Connecting to nature
  • Eating a balanced meal
  • Staying hydrated

This week in the SU, you can practise some self-care by checking out our Self Care Week events, campus market stalls, or looking at the Wellbeing support we offer year-round. You can also find University of Plymouth events here.

Whether you are looking to join a sports club, society, volunteering or just giving it a go at something new where you can make new friends and share common interests. The following opportunities are available for you:
