RAG plans for the year – Looking forward

The University of Plymouth’s Student’s Union has so many opportunities waiting for you to get involved in!

At Plymouth Raise & Give (RAG) we raise money for some amazing charities in sometimes the craziest of ways.

Aside from our events, you’ll see on campus, we run challenges annually partnered with fantastic charities, raising hundreds of thousands for their causes. Challenge not only yourself but the norm of everything fundraising is stereotypically, and be part of an encouraging and supportive team to reach literal highs whilst at uni.

Challenge Yourself. Challenge the Norm.

Fundraising has so many forms, so if there’s something we don’t offer, we’ll be absolutely sure to try it and help you with how you want to fundraise for whoever you want to fundraise for.

If you’re interested in any of our challenges or would just like to speak to us, contact us…

This year's charities confirmed to run challenges with us are:

Dig Deep - Kilimanjaro

Dig Deep is a WASH project, this means they aim to provide clean water and sanitation for those without it (primarily based out of Kenya).

Fundraise throughout this academic year to reach the top of Africa’s tallest mountain, working with us and the charity to bring an end to water poverty.

Play Action International - Uganda’s Adventure Try-athlon

This Ugandan adventure will see you kayak the Nile, cycle to and then hike Mt. Elgon (Africa’s 2nd tallest mountain), and then help to build a playground outside a school in East Africa.

Play Action International believes in the power of play, to encourage and instil a sense of security in today’s young, to give them a better tomorrow. Our second biggest fundraising target will help provide this volunteering opportunity at the end of an amazing adventure.

Unseen UK - Three Peaks Challenge

The Three Peaks Challenge is one like no other, tackling Britain’s tallest mountains in less than 24 hours across 2 days.

You’ll do this to provide Unseen with additional funds to facilitate the raising of awareness on how to spot modern slavery, as well as their rehabilitation and support for those who have unfortunately experienced slavery.

Meningitis Research Foundation - Skydive

A simple sell; you’ve got to have a certain mindset to do a skydive, why not support an amazing charity to support them in their goals whilst you do the unthinkable.

MRF works on national and global initiatives to help those suffering from Meningitis as well as finding ways to prevent & cure this incurable disease, including petitioning the UN by 2030. A local skydive in your Easter break might just be the adrenaline rush you need before your final term and assessments.

There might be more!

We’re always looking for new opportunities for students, with potential for; Lost or Jailbreak - We’ll either dump you in a random location in Britain and you’ll have to find your way home, or you’ll have to escape Plymouth and get as far as you can in 48 hours; both with no map or resources.

Covid-19 Safety

This year has been an obviously weird one for all of us, and that's no different to us or our charity partners. Plymouth RAG has had a hard time reconfiguring our challenges programme to ensure the safety of our participants and the localities in which they'll be adventuring to.

We've made sure that our charity partners and tour providers are ensuring brilliant deferral programmes should the worst happen and we have to temporarily postpone the trips, and we're working with award-winning charities to ensure that fundraisers have the best resources available to meet their personal targets. This year will provide challenges, but that's what we're here for. Challenge the year, and challenge yourself.

Keep up to date on what the SU is doing to keep you safe here.
