How to volunteer
Please email Matt Roser, secretary to First Roborough Scouts, to volunteer. Prospective volunteers are welcome to visit us to observe an evening session before deciding whether to volunteer. Volunteers will complete a DBS check. Supervision from a trained Scout leader will be in place at all times.
Benefits to self
This is an opportunity to develop one's own understanding of the needs of children in learning situations outside of the classroom. It's also an opportunity to have fun! Activities include team-based competitive games, learning about map reading, codes of conduct, and the natural environment, outdoor activities such as campfire building, walks, and generally knocking around in the woods.
Benefits to others
Scouting provides huge benefits to children with a wide range of abilities and from diverse backgrounds. Developing understanding and consideration of others, confidence in oneself, and the learning of practical skills are central to what we do. We can do this only with the effort of a dedicated team of leaders and the support of parent and other volunteers. Helping us to make Scouting a success can change a child's life.
