Student Leaders

Become a Student Leader

Gain more experience.

Broaden your networks and expand your horizons by taking on one of the many leadership roles within your Students’ Union. Whether it’s chairing a sports club committee, running a community volunteering project, or representing your students to the university, undertaking a voluntary role like one of these, will set you apart from other graduates when applying for a job. Overall, the benefits include:

  • An opportunity to broaden your experiences, nurture your abilities, and show your willingness to go above and beyond.
  • The chance to nurture your leadership skills, including your organisation, communication, teamwork and motivational capabilities.
  • The prospect of helping enrich the university experience for your fellow students.
  • Opportunities to influence change within your Students’ Union/Plymouth University.

Elections/recruitment for these roles mainly take place during the second semester. Full training is provided for any role and continuing support and guidance is readily available. Many of the roles also have reward and recognition schemes which can be worked towards.

The roles are, but not limited to, the following:

Student Voice Roles
Student Development Roles
Community Volunteering Roles
Advice Centre Roles
