UPSU Intramural Sport Volunteers
Intramural Sport requires a variety of motivated, ambitious and hardworking volunteers to help with the different sport that is available. If it wasn’t for our volunteers, Intramural Sport would not be able to progress and meet the needs of the students. By volunteering you will gain significant experience that can help you in your future career path, it looks excellent on your C.V and allows you to learn new and invaluable skills.

Intramural volunteer statement:
My volunteering role with Plymouth University Intramural Sports was with the new 5-a-side indoor football league, started by Johanne. I was responsible for scheduling the league fixtures over term 1 and 2, refereeing matches which took place at Lipson College Sports Hall, recording and updating the results, league table and top goal scorer table as well and captaining my own team. I also created a Facebook group and invited all of the league players to join so that I could publish weekly updates to the league table, any announcements for other Intramural events and the team captains could contact me to request fixture alterations.
I found the experience extremely rewarding because I was able to see people playing and enjoying football that may not necessarily be football fanatics but would like a break from their studies or some social fitness. It was a friendly and welcoming environment which is exactly what I believe Intramural Sport is about.
For my voluntary efforts I was awarded the 2014 UPSU Contribution to Sports Award which I am extremely proud of and very grateful to Johanne and all the staff at UPSU & Lipson College for their support.
I hope next year the Intramural Sports continue to increase their popularity with students of all fitness and social goals.
