!!! NEW COMMITEE NEEDED FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/25 !!!

SEXPLANATION: Plymouth's Sex Ed and Gender Society.
A local society which offers informal and comprehensive sex and relationship education in the community and across the university campus.

We aim to educate the younger people of our community teaching about sexual heath, relationships, consent, self-esteem and body image. We work closely with organisations such as The Zone and liaise with schools across Plymouth to organise teaching sessions. Training will be provided before hand. This is a great way to boost your CV, especially if you're interested in working with young people in the future!

Committee Roles avaliable:

Secretary :
The Secretary is the backbone of any student group and ensures that everything runs smoothly, both in terms of administration and communication. They will encourage collaboration within the student group and take a key role in managing the delivery of the group's objectives. ?

Treasurer:
This is a role of controlling the society's expenditure, its incomings and outgoings and handling and fundraising money. It requires honesty and communicating specifically with the chair and core committee with updates on the society's bank status. This role would be great for someone who enjoys playing the banker in monopoly!

Health and Safety:
The Health and Safety Secretary is responsible for ensuring that the society operates safely and complies with all relevant health and safety regulations. The Health and Safety Secretary is responsible for carrying out risk assessments for all society activities and events, identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate these risks. The Health and Safety Secretary may be responsible for liaising with the university's health and safety department, ensuring that the society is aware of any changes to regulations or policies that may affect its activities. This role requires a person who is good at communicating within the team and outside of the team, someone who is good at thinking outside the box.

Publicity Secretary:
This role requires someone who is tech savvy and has an eye for good social media representations. It will require at least one post on Instagram every week using our colours and logos.  This is a perfect role for someone starting out in a society role.

Safeguarding Officer:
The safeguarding officer will work closely with our training officers to ensure the suitability of our teachers. You will be responsible for provdiding safeguarding training to our volunteer teachers. These teaches have already been made by previous committee members but will require you to adapt them into your own teaching style. It is vital that our volunteers feel safe whilst going into schools. This role would be suited to an individual who is passionate about child and young adult protection, is a good communicator and someone who is approachable.

School Liaison Officer x2:
The School Liaison Officer will be a key role in organising teaches with schools. You will be responsible for contacting schools, generating interest with them, discussing what teaches or sessions they would like us to provide and sending them lesson plans/organising dates and times. They will work alongside the rest of the committee to make sure each teach is covered by the right number of available volunteers.  It is vital that the schools are aware of and comfortable with what is being taught, that we meet their expectations and that they are able to talk to the School Liaison Officer about any worries, concerns or issues they have  This roles requires someone who is organised, good at responding quickly to emails, able to work well in a team and is approachable.

Training Officer x2:
The training officers will themselves, alongside the rest of the committee, be given training on how to prepare the volunteers to deliver teaches.  Their primary role will be to teach new volunteers (and in future years, run refreshers sessions) about the content of the teaches and how to deliver them. This is a great role for those who are interested in teaching and education. We would expect the training officers to provide regular training sessions for the first few months of the year, or to offer training sessions to new recruits – You can run this however you see fit, either online or in person. It is vital that every volunteer has this training before going into schools.  The training officer role would be suitable to someone who is a keen educator, who is flexible and happy to take on a slightly larger role in the committee.

AGM will be hosted Thursday 25th 6:30pm on ZOOM
