At Tulgey Woods!

Some information:

We carry out various woodland tasks that vary seasonally. We teach valuable conservation skills and we operate a volunteer reward scheme.

We like to create fun social situations and we always finish our sessions with refreshments and banter in the woodland compound.

We record the hours of each volunteer as well as listing the skills they have learned. When a volunteer reaches 20 sessions (40 hours) they receive a free Tulgey Woods hoodie in their choice of size and colour. When they reach 40 sessions (80 hours) they get a key to the woods and can access the woods with family and friends for private visits and/or camping.

Examples of regular tasks; Bramble management, habitat creation, pond management, management of invasive species, sustainable bee keeping, species identification and monitoring, litter picking and wood processing.

For the first time, we are heading to the Care & Occupational Therapy Show at Westpoint Exeter on 23 June 2026. Get a free SU ticket so we know who is joining us in the taxis to and from the event. We will also require emergency contact information. Without an SU ticket, you may not be able to join us in the taxis, as these will be pre-booked.

🚌 Transport

Westpoint isn't the easiest place to get to using public transportation. We want to make it accessible and cheap for you all. We will pay for taxis to and from the Exeter Honiton P&R Megabus stop to the event at Westpoint.

You will pay for your Megabus student ticket, which, depending on how early you pre-book is between £7-£10. The society will then pay for taxis to and from the Megabus stop to the event. You must get on the Megabus timings below in order to get taxis as a group.

Once you've shown your ID the Life Centre team will add you to their booking system and give you a Plymouth Active Card (this is to make it easier to sign you in for future sessions). Tickets are given on a first-come first-served basis and cannot be pre-booked.
