Gig rowing is an iconic South West sport originating in the 19th century and originally used for lifeboats. Now gig rowing is a popular South West sport, over 100 clubs around the globe compete in gig racing. 60 of these clubs are based in Devon and Cornwall!
Gig rowing is a brilliant way to explore the Plymouth area, keep fit and learn new skill. This session is aimed at people with no rowing expereince.

What’s included?
- All coaching
- Equipment including; buoyancy aid, windproof.
- Return transport via Mountbatten ferry
What do you need to bring?
· Shoes you are happy to get wet/wet shoes or wellies
· Warm clothing for when you finish your sessions
· Sports clothing (leggings/shorts/tracksuit bottoms) to wear rowing - you will get the lower part of your legs wet
· Any personal medication
How do I book on to the session?
Click the ‘purchase ticket' tab. Follow the instructions and complete the form. Please ensure the details entered are correct as these will be used to contact you closer to the course and in the event that any changes take place.
How do I get there if I want to drive?
Please ensure you allow plenty of time for parking and traffic if driving. You will need to ensure you register your vehicle at reception upon arrival.

What happens if the session is cancelled?
All sessions are subject to weather conditions. If a session is unable to run due to weather, the session will be rescheduled for a later date. We will use your email or telephone number detailed on the register- PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS CORRECT
