An amazing funded four week Learn 2 Sail course based at Mountbatten Centre. The perfect course for anyone who wants to get out on the water and learn a new skill. All equipment is provide and no experience is necessary!
This is an introduction to the world of sailing with the opportunity to sail in the picturesque Plymouth Sound. The L2S course is aimed at ages between 16 - 25 years but not exclusive - there's no need to have prior experience. On the L2S course you will go through a structured syllabus and as well having the opportunity to sail in a variety of keelboats and dinghies. If you wish to gain certification for the course, you can let your instructors know.
An UPSU representative will meet students on the roof of the SU at 12.15pm for the first session only. They will then walk you to the ferry and show you to Mountbatten Watersports Centre.

What do you need to bring?
· Towel and swim wear for under the wetsuit
· Shoes you are happy to get wet
· Warm clothing for when you finish your sessions
· Warm layers (fleece) to wear over your wetsuit
· Any personal medication
How do I book on to the course?
Click the ‘purchase ticket' tab. Follow the instructions and complete the form. Please ensure the details entered are correct as these will be used to contact you closer to the course and in the event that any changes take place.
How do I collect my water taxi tickets?
Once you have added and purchased your place on the course, you will need to print off your confirmation then bring it in to UPSU reception. You will then be given the water taxi tickets.
Water taxi tickets are your responsibility. If you lose or forget the tickets any further costs incurred will not be covered by UPSU.

How do I get there if I want to drive?
Please ensure you allow plenty of time for parking and traffic if driving. You will need to ensure you register your vehicle at reception upon arrival.

What do I do if I cannot attend a session?

When would a session be cancelled?
All sessions are subject to weather conditions. If a session is unable to run due to weather, the session will be rescheduled for a later date. We will use your email or telephone number detailed on the register- PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS CORRECT
Interested in gaining certifications?
Why not register your interest and work toward your RYA Level 1. If you demonstrate all of the required skills by the last session, you will be awarded your certificate and logbook. (The cost of the certificate is in addition to the course. The cost is £9.00)
What could I do after completing the course?
Plymouth is full of sailing clubs and activities. The UPSU Sail and Power club run regular sessions from beginner sessions to competitive racing sessions. Why not join their club to continue developing your skills.
There is lots of other sailing clubs around in Plymouth you could look to join. A simple goole search or a quick chat with Rachel should get up to speed.
