RAG Committee Elections 2020

President

Duties of this role:

  • To attend chair training  and any other relevant UPSU training
  • To oversee the business and day-to-day running of RAG and take strategic decisions.
  • Support adventures and events with all promo within fresher’s week and attend information meetings.
  • To chair committee meetings
  • To work with secretary to organise and publish and publish the agenda for meetings at least 12 hours before the meeting.
  • To be the deciding vote and to ensure that all actions that take place are in accordance with the RAG Constitution.
  • To support and assist all RAG members and endeavour to meet all reasonable requests of RAG members.
  • To attend appropriate UPSU student meetings.
  • To be a signatory for the RAG Committee Account and adhere to the Finance Regulations and Financial Operating procedures.
  • Line manage all RAG committee members.
  • Ensure that a handover report is completed at the end of the year.
  • Oversee any press coverage or external publicity that involves RAG.
  • The President and Vice-Presidents will be the contact for UPSU’s volunteering team and will meet weekly to discuss student fundraising and sign off finance paperwork.
  • To lead on communications, both external and internal.

Secretary

Duties of this role:

  • To attend UPSU secretary training
  • Support adventures and events with all promo within freshers week and attend information meetings.
  • Assist with the with the administration of RAG.
  • To attend monthly core committee meetings and take minutes.
  • Attend events and adventure meetings and take minutes.
  • To publish minutes within 24 hours of the meetings.
  • To read over and approve relevant meeting agendas.
  • To be responsible for room bookings, external speaker forms and transport bookings.
  • To organise RAG kit by December 2020.
  • Liaise with charities where appropriate.
  • Liaise with sponsors and companies.
  • To be a signatory for the RAG committee Account and adhere to the Finance Regulations
  • Work with the design team, and chair in the creation of the RAG MAG.
  • Work with chair to oversee any press coverage or external publicity that involves RAG.

Treasurer

Duties of this role:

  • To attend UPSU’s treasurer training.
  • Support adventures and events with all promo within freshers week and attend information meetings.
  • To run a banking workshop with all relevant committee members and adventure participants.
  • To oversee and manage finances and budgets.
  • To attend a meeting with core committee at the beginning of term to outline RAG budgets for the year.
  • To ensure the budgets are kept up to date and are uploaded to the google drive.
  • To attend monthly core committee meetings and present and update budgets to keep on top of money handling procedures.
  • To ensure expenses claims are paid and charitable donations are made in a reasonable time frame.
  • Ensure RAG is complying with the financial regulations of UPSU.
  • To prepare detailed financial budgets for all events in ample time to present them to the co- chairs.
  • To keep a record of each events costs and surplus.
  • To oversee all adventure participants’ offline fundraising payments, and ensure they are made to the appropriate charities.
  • To be a signatory for the RAG committee Account and adhere to the Finance Regulations and Financial Operating procedures.

VP Adventures

Duties of this role:

  • To attend relevant UPSU Training
  • Support adventures and events with all promo within fresher’s week and attend information meetings.
  • Liaise with charities/partners
  • To lead on support for adventure activities.
  • Line manage the adventure leaders
  • To hold monthly meetings with the adventure leaders and bi-monthly one to ones
  • To support the President in the organisation and administration of RAG.
  • To be the main contact in holding the President to account.
  • To act as the main contact for RAG in the absence of the President.
  • To support and assist all RAG members and endeavour to meet all reasonable requests of RAG members.
  • Ensure that a handover report is completed at the end of the year.
  • The President and Vice-Presidents will be the contact for UPSU volunteering team and will meet at least monthly RAG issues.
  • To be fully involved in all RAG activities not just adventures.

VP Events

Duties of this role:

  • To attend relevant UPSU Training.

  • To lead on support for events-based activity.
  • To hold monthly meetings with the events coordinators and bi-monthly one to ones
  • To support the President in the organisation and administration of RAG.
  • To be the main contact in holding the President to account.
  • To act as the main contact for RAG in the absence of the President.
  • To support and assist all RAG members and endeavour to meet all reasonable requests of RAG members.
  • To attend appropriate UPSU student meetings.
  • Line manage the Events committee.
  • Ensure that a handover report is completed at the end of the year.
  • The President and Vice-Presidents will be the contact for UPSU’s Student volunteering team and will meet at least monthly to discuss student fundraising.
  • To be fully involved in all of RAG activities not just events.

Health & Safety Officer

Duties of this role:

  • To attend UPSU’s Health and Safety Training.
  • Support adventures and events with all promo within freshers week and attend information meetings.
  • To attend and complete a First Aid course
  • To attend and complete a Mental Health First Aid course
  • Ensure RAG is complying with the Health and Safety regulations of UPSU.
  • To carry out risk assessments for all events in ample time to present them to core committee.
  • To attend any RAG run events or adventures and ensure health and safety measures are in place.
  • To help with the organisation and risk management of large RAG events such as jailbreak
  • To liaise with other university’s RAG groups to share Risk Assessment information.
  • To attend monthly Core Meetings.
  • To be first point of call for any wellbeing issues and to signpost members to relevant support.
