My name is Niall Beer, and I am currently the Vice-Chair and Health & Safety Sec of Men’s Hockey whilst being in my final year studying BSc Environmental Science. In the past, I have been Chairman and Secretary of Men’s Hockey, so I understand the organisation and dedication it would take to be elected into this role of Part-time Sports Officer.
Regarding my manifesto, my points are as follows:
- To continue to lobby the university on the sports positioning paper, as I understand the importance that sport plays within university life and the respite from study that it provides, as well as the sociability.
- Working with Ben on the wellbeing officer and its effectiveness within UPSU sports clubs.
- Making sure that AGM/Governance handover meetings are effective as possible and intended for what they are set out to do, so that future committees are in good stead.
- That sports forums are a solid foundation to voice opinions within the sports clubs, and that sport is heard about in the Students’ Union.
- Ensuring that Ben adheres to his manifesto as VP Sport and hold him accountable within the sports environment.
I look forward to undertaking the challenges of Part-time Sports Officer if elected.
