KATRINA PATON

Hi! I’m a third-year medical student, and currently part of the WAMS committee, as improving access to medicine from all backgrounds is something I feel strongly about because nothing should stand between you and what you want to achieve.

I believe that I will be the ideal person to represent you as I am dedicated to both the medical school and the university as a whole, and I am willing to strongly escalate any school-wide issues to the student union when necessary. I am organised, level-headed and will ensure that you get a fair voice that is listened to in all SU decisions, and recognition in SU campaigns and events.

If elected, the areas I would like to focus on are:

  • Improved integration between medical students and the university, especially clinical years now that we aren’t based on the main campus
  • Advocate for fairer assessment marking, which was highlighted as an issue in recent student feedback
  • Boost support for students suffering from mental and physical illness
  • Improve recognition of the difficulties involved in living at home whilst at university, and encourage support for students in this situation across the university

Vote for me, and I will make sure that your voice is heard!
