Who am I?
Hello! My name is Julian and I am currently studying MSc Advanced Engineering Design, having previously completed BEng Marine Technology here at Plymouth. I enjoy sailing, hiking and playing trumpet in the University Big Band and Concert Band.
What experience do I have?
I have been the Marine Technology course rep here for 3 years and voluntarily sit on the Mechanical & Marine Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee. I have also been Chair, Treasurer and Secretary of two societies whilst at Uni, allowing me to gain experience in leadership and communication. I am running for School Rep as I believe I have the experience and understanding to effectively represent Engineering Students.
Why vote for me?
As your School of Engineering Representative, I will strive to do the following:
- Work with course reps to ensure modules are well structured and students have enough academic support
- Improve students’ opportunities for industry relationships – e.g. field trips to local engineering companies and/or guest speakers/workshops from engineers in industry
- Develop interdisciplinary links with other schools within the University
- Ensure students get the opportunity to contribute towards the planning and facilities of the new Engineering Building
- Develop much needed links between the School of Engineering and the University and UPSU
