ELLIE MASSIE

I believe that I would be a good fit for the role of school representative for Law, Criminology and Government as I bring a fresh perspective of what it is to be a new university student, especially the challenges university students are now faced with such as balancing a work load with a social life and living away from home.

I also represent the minority of students who have moved across the country from the North West to study at Plymouth which puts me in a rare position of understanding the big commitment some of our students have made, as university is a big commitment enough, but being away from friends and family can be even more daunting.

I believe people would find me friendly and approachable thus making it easier for people to vent current issues they may have regarding the school’s policies which I will then liaise with the course representatives to come to an achievable solution.

Furthermore, I believe my excellent communication and listening skills would be an asset to the role, along with my hard-working and inquisitive nature, which ensures I will work hard to accurately represent the views of fellow students, ensuring that nobodies voice is dismissed, and everybody gets to express their opinion. I pride myself on being a good public speaker therefore attending meetings, engaging in UPSU campaigns and events will come naturally.

Finally, if I am voted to be the school representative I plan to focus on improving communication between students and lecturers. This would mean students would be able to voice their concerns to the course representatives before and after every module thus ensuring any concerns are dealt with early on and achievable solutions can be worked on before the next module starts.
