Hi, my name is James Lord and I’m running to be Chair of your Accountability Board for 2018/19.
Over the course of the last year I have had the pleasure of serving in this post, and have gained valuable experience of what is required from the role, and the challenges faced as Chair. I’ve been proud to serve you, helping answer your questions and concerns, whether they be face-to-face or sent via email. Being Chair of the accountability board has been an honour, because at its heart the role is all about getting across the voice of students – something I’m passionate about doing.
If re-elected to the Chair I would continue to be available to help students hold to account their elected officers, providing advice and where necessary holding face-to-face meetings between students and officers about concerns. Last year we made a real difference, setting up an email direct to the accountability board, meeting with students and doing Live Facebook Q&A’s so that your voice was heard.
If re-elected I’d continue being accessible and would build on last years successes by holding fortnightly drop-in sessions for students to ask any questions they have about the accountability board, or how they can hold the SU to account.
The Accountability board is a fantastic resource for students, but for too long it’s not been outward facing and known about by the student body – Vote for me and I will make it my mission to ensure you always know were to turn if you want your questions answered.
