Your Future

Engaging in opportunities through your Students’ Union is a great way to grow and enhance, your experiences and capabilities. However, using this developed potential to reach your future goals will require you to have a plan on how to reach them. You will need to know how to sell yourself to future employers, or have a grasp on starting up your own enterprise. This is where a number of services based within the University can support you:

Careers and Employability Service

From the day you arrive at university, your Careers and Employability Service is available to support and guide you in reaching your life goals. Their helpful and engaging team can assist you in reflecting on, and articulating the skills you develop through the activities you engage with. This is crucial when writing applications and CV’s, and as part of any interview preparation.

Creating contacts and networking are other key skills to be developed whilst at university, and so they offer workshops and employer networking opportunities throughout the year. On top of helping you think ahead after graduation, the team can also help you source part-time work, become a Student Ambassador and/or undertake career-related work experience/placements.

Connecting with the service is easy:

  • Log onto their 24/7 online careers portal - Career Navigator.
  • Read their regular e-newsletter “Career Hub Weekly” delivered to your student inbox.
  • Keep checking out their Event Calendar for their programme of activities and Accelerate Workshops.
  • Take part in their Student Focus Groups
  • Following them on Facebook and Twitter

Visit the Hub on the ground floor of the Roland Levinsky Building (University of Plymouth Campus) to have an initial chat about what support they can provide you. Check out all that they offer on their website too - plymouth.ac.uk/employability
