What do volunteers do there?
We undertake a range of activities at the Barn Owl Trust, from scrub clearence, landscaping and various other conservation tasks . It's always a fun day out and we are normally treated to meeting the Owls at the end of the days work!

Beach Projects
What is it?
Beach projects involve heading to local beaches to clear them of litter and debris. The beaches we visit the most are Mountbatten and Jennycliff, just across the water from the Barbican
What do we do?
Beach Projects involve spending the afternoon on the beach picking up litter and sometimes recording what we find to pass information on the local council. When the sun is shining we have also been known to have a Barbeque afterwards!

Looe Monkey Sanctuary
What is it?
The Looe Monkey Sanctuary is just across the Tamar in a really scenic location. The sanctuary is home to rescued Capuchin and Wooly Monkeys. The work of the sanctuary is partly dependant on its visitors during the summer months. ViP volunteers help out over the winter to get the sanctuary ready for next season.

What do we do there?
Activities at the Monkey Sanctuary range from Landscaping and path building/repair to weeding and planting. We also have a tour of the sanctuary at the end of the day to meet the Monkeys!
When?
Runs approx once a month from October to May.
The Beckly Centre
What is it?
In the heart of Plymouth, ViP volunteers have become an integral part of the Beckly Centre, which works with disabled and disadvantaged children.
What do we do there?
ViP volunteers support the young people in activity sessions and visiting local attractions.
When?
Sessions available throughout the week.
Rural Stations Environmental Projects

Sandplace Station Garden - Built by ViP Volunteers
What is it?
This project involves working with The Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership - based in the University's School of Geography. The partnership aims to encourage more people to use rural and inner city branch lines, such as the Liskeard to Looe line in Cornwall.
What do we do?

Activities throughout the year include cleaning, renovating, gardening and generally beautifying rural and inner city branch lines and stations, and also themed activity days.
When?

Moor Trees
What is it?
Moor Trees is a group dedicated to restoring areas of wild native woodland on Dartmoor, and encouraging people to actively participate in ecological restoration. It is also one of our most popular projects.
What do we do there?
The Moor Trees student group meets regularly in a variety of locations, from tree nurseries in the city, to the middle of Dartmoor. Activities include seed collecting, seed planting and planting saplings on the Moors.
When?
Every Wednesday afternoon and occasional weekends.

Sustainable Communities
The Elder Tree
Wednesday (Cattedown) and Thursday (St Matthias) lunch time club for the elderly (12-1.30) serving meals and chatting to the clients.

Student and Refugees Together (START) and Cultural Kitchen
 Friday evenings from 5pm-8pm in Sherwell Church on campus. It’s a place in the city to come and socialise, to practice English, prepare and share a meal and basically have a good time!
When?
Fortnightly on a Friday evening.
