► What is RAG?

What is RAG?

A long time ago in a university probably not that far away, a group of students decided that they'd quite like to help the local homeless by collecting money for them. They collected in rags to highlight the cause, and so 'RAG' was born.

They tried everything to raise money for local and national charities, from naked bungee jumping to painting zebra crossings on the M1! It's all in the name of charity, and makes the national lottery look like a game of domino's at the local working men's club. RAG is now a permanent fixture in almost every UK university, and raises an estimated £3 million for charity every year!

Plymouth University's RAG is proud to be part of this somewhat crazy tradition, and has raised thousands of pounds, adding to the support of various local and national charities. We really do need your ideas, and your support at our events; so keep an eye out for the RAG team at Plymouth.

WHY RAG?

Being an active member of RAG offers you a great deal:-

We help make an important difference for the charities we work with.
You will have the opportunity to travel across the country and make friends from other Universities.

A degree is no longer enough. Through RAG you may be able to gain valuable experience and training in areas such as business and financial management, event organisation, interpersonal relationships, publicity and much more - all of which will look impressive on your CV!
•On a more personal level, taking an active role in the work we do will help you become a more confident, experienced and worldly wise person.

GETTING INVOLVED

The people who make all these things happen are YOU! For every event RAG need teams of people behind the scenes who make the activities happen.

No one is lumbered with everything to do, everyone works as a part of a team to make each project happen.

This could include YOU!

Yes, you could help as much, or as little, as you can, with any one of our events. And if you feel there is something missing at Plymouth, your suggestions for new fundraising ideas are very much appreciated.
