The Knowledge: Surviving Freshers

Whether you’re a fresher or not, it’s pretty safe to say that nearly all students indulge in the activities available during fresher’s fortnight. So here are some tips of how to survive it all.

Drink

Now I’m not saying not to drink, far from it, but know your limit. That’s usually the point where you’re head feels a little fuzzy, your co-ordination is a little out of control and you have no inhibitions. This is when the next couple of drinks will probably send you running to the toilet if you’re lucky or in a heap on the floor if you’re not.

Pace yourself

There’s alot going on but the human body can only do so much. If you want to stay up all night there is no way you’re going to be in any fit state to get up early the next day for lectures or trips. Instead prioritise, pick out what’s important and then fit in the things you want to do around that.

The same also goes for joining lots of societies; all though they all seem like good fun you can’t do everything. Think carefully about which one you know you want to commit to.

Once they’re gone....

Grab every voucher, offer and freebie you can get your hands on. This time of year companies all over the city are doing giveaways, BOGOF offers, and cheap stuff as long as you’ve got the matching voucher. But they usually have a time limit so grab them fast and use them when you can because once they’re gone, they’re gone.
