Students who have never kayaked or canoeing before as well as those who want a structured and fun progressive programme, will find this 5-week Learn2Paddle course the perfect introduction to the paddling world.
Brief
The 6-week course will see a structured but fun introduction to paddlesports, allowing each student to work with a qualified instructor to gain an insight into everything canoeing and kayaking has to offer! The course will predominantly be using the UPSU kayaks and MBC canoes.
At the end of your course you should feel confident and competent enough to go out paddling under the supervision of a British Canoe Union Instructor and to join UPSU Kayak Club.
The UPSU Kayak Club will be working closely with the students on this course and can help you to further your development after the course has finished. The club run regular sessions on week days and weekends, as well as trips around the South Coast during weekends.The University of Plymouth has a very strong and active Canoe club who operate out of Mount Batten, who can help you continue developing your newly learnt skills and love for kayaking.
The UPSU Canoe Club will be working closely with the students on this course and can help you to further your development after the course has finished. The Canoe club will be running beginner sessions based at MBC, pool sessions at the Life centre as well as off-site trips around the UK, which students would be encouraged to join after completing the course.
The water taxi tickets and forms will be available for collection from the Hive, from Monday 29th September.”

Water taxi transport tickets, all equipment including wetsuits if required, changing facilities including showers and qualified instructors.
Students will need to bring a change of clothes, including shoes, clothes or swimsuit to wear under a wetsuit on the water. There is a café onsite or the students should bring a packed lunch and drink.
You will need to print your confirmation of payment, you will need to bring this into the Hive and complete 2 forms as well as providing student ID, before being able to collect your Water Taxi tickets.

Cancellation
In the event of adverse weather conditions the session will be postponed: the UPSU Watersports Coordinator or the lead instructor will endeavour to contact you at least 24 hours prior to the session, using the email address or telephone number enter. It is the students responsibility to check their emails and voicemails for these notifications before making their way to each session.
