The Summer Ball
Hi...... In general I am responsible for passing on vital information and trying to make yours, mine, and future students learning experience even better. More specific, I liaise between Petroc & the University of Plymouth, passing information back and forth in the form of Partner College group meetings, Committee meetings, Parliament meetings & various other group sessions.
I have also created a new Petroc H.E students facebook page, for H.E students to go to and communicate with each other. Share thoughts, upload pictures and access latest information on events and opportunities, not only at Petroc, but at the University of Plymouth too.
The things that we have achieved in our first year of Study have been a real success story. Firstly as Student Representatives we have attended regular meetings and voiced student concerns and opinions, one of which was an issue with outdated software. There are now numerous sites around the college that have updated software with changes happening all the time, including more eBooks’ to download and various other issues being solved.
Secondly I personally, kindly asked if the cooks in the kitchen would put milk into the custard as it was just made with hot water and not very appetizing. The custard is now delicious as it is made with milk, so more people purchase it, including F.E students, thus increasing the catering sales! I have also asked for some pots of Oat so Simple for winter and the dinner staff are looking into this for us.

• I’m 37 years old, born in March and am extremely methodical, organized, clean & tidy to the point where some think I have OCD, but that’s just me. I used to be in the Royal Navy where I trained as a chef. I worked as a Chef for around 10 years, then got into Customer Service working in Sales for energy companies to selling insurance over the telephone to taking incoming calls in call centre’s like 118 and Orange. The last few years I worked with a friend and learned how to fit carpets, which is when I decided that it was the right time to go into Higher Education
• Activities/ Hobbies: Cycling, Ice-skating, Body boarding, Dancing
• I am currently in my second year of my Foundation Degree in Environmental Health, which is very difficult but extremely interesting and I enjoy this very much.
• I work as a Chef for visually impaired people at weekends in Plymouth. So with being a Rep, studying and working I don’t really get a lot of time to myself.
• I’m happy, outgoing and get on well with most people I meet, some just don’t get me as I can be, let’s just say quite unique.
• I have been a DJ for some 15 years and have also ran and promoted my own nights, so I’m quite accomplished in trying to get the message across and promoting ideas etc.
