► Hannah Lamborn

Hi there! If you're reading this, great work, you're one step closer to voting for me! My name is Hannah Lamborn, I'm 20 years old, and I'm in my final year of BA Education Studies here in Plymouth.

In my second year I was elected Halls and Private Accommodation Rep, and during that time, I liaised with staff from the University accommodation offices, and made regular contact with them to see if there were any problems I could solve or anything I could do to help. As I said before by May this year I will have completed my degree in Education Studies. Education Studies entailed everything that this job is about – looking in depth at formal learning, informal learning, outdoor learning, leadership, and social aspects like happiness and welfare within educational institutions. This is why I fit this role perfectly.

I am running for this position because, (and I know it sounds cheesy), but I love to help people. Welfare and the rights of students has always been high on my list of priorities, and I thought, well instead of complaining to my friends and course mates any longer, why don't I get up and do something about it for the students that are here next year.

I can sympathise that these degrees are hard. I have been through these three tough years myself, and have personally been through some very difficult times. I want to be approachable enough to you that you feel you can e-mail me when something isn't going right. I really want the students as a whole to know that they are not alone. Promoting emotional and physical well-being throughout the course you're doing is just as important as doing the course itself.

Why should you vote for me? Because I actually want to change things. In my time here at University, one of my major concerns about the students here as a whole has always been people saying, “What are the elections?”, “Who is our president?”, “What does education and welfare mean to me?” - and this is a problem. I want to be there a familiar face around the Union and University, I want to be there for you, the student 24/7. You should vote for me because I will change the way people view the UPSU Sabbatical officers and UPSU itself. I will work tirelessly, for you, the student, because you guys are what matters. I will deal with any worries or concerns you have, nothing will be too big or too small. Whether those concerns be about accommodation, money worries, sexual health, drinking or taking drugs, or problems with your course or lecturers. There can't be a university without students, and I'd much prefer those students were happy ones!

You should vote for me because I will get the job done, I will listen to you, I will work for you and with you, and mostly importantly, I will be there when you need me.

Vote Hannah Lamborn #1 VP Education and Welfare.
